May I bring along a relative or friend?

Healthcare-related procedures are challenging events in our lives. Whether you choose to have a certain procedure, or be it that life gives you no choice but to undergo surgery, having a relative or friend with you will provide you with the necessary company, support, and warmth that you need.  We believe it is a very good idea, and one that is not much more expensive (hospital rooms typically have a bed for companions and hotel rooms and ground transportation may be shared), And of course, Travel For Care can assist you with that.

Will my Insurance Company cover my procedure in Mexico?

Even if insurance companies in the U.S. have what may appear as very complex, detailed, and difficult to understand policies for their covered procedures and providers, it is always worth contacting them and asking about your case. While some policies specify that they do not cover anything abroad other than accidents, others might treat providers abroad as “out-of-network” and cover part of the procedure. In this case, even some insured patients might also find a better deal by paying less out-of-pocket abroad than at home. Let us know if you’d like help with finding out.

What about Medical Malpractice, Complications, or Accidents while abroad?

Malpractice

In the very unlikely event that something goes wrong with your procedure you will have the same legal resources that any local citizen does. Nevertheless, since litigation abroad can be a very costly, long, and complicated process, it is a path not generally taken by an international patient. In your favor, the fact that these hospitals, clinics, and doctors are looking forward to maintaining a great brand, reputation and compliance with international standards and certifications, makes them extremely devoted to your safety and well-being. This also means that any such case will most probably be handled with uttermost priority and responsibility.
We acknowledge that there can be no substitute for good results in healthcare and that therefore Malpractice might be a very valid concern to you. Nevertheless, in order to help with your decision making process and peace of mind we have partnered with AOS Assurance Ltd., a pioneer company offering Medical Malpractice Insurance products that can fit your needs and help address these concerns.
Please visit the web site of AOS Assurance Ltd. for more information. PMMI Malpractice Insurance Product

Complications and Accidents

Patients wanting insurance coverage for the risk of medical complications that might occur during or after the medical procedure, as well as coverage for accidents that might occur during the trip, have the option of purchasing an innovative Medical Travel Insurance policy from Seven Corners Inc. called the Seven Corners Bordercross Policy.

Are there any Financing options?

In order to pay for a medical procedure, patients might decide to combine or choose from several financing options.

Credit cards are probably the most common option given their ease of use and wide acceptance, but credit limits might not cover the most expensive procedures. All doctors, hospitals, and clinics in our network accept major credit cards. The same applies with any airline and our preferred hotels.

Bank loans are also a possibility. Your current bank might be able to offer you loans, lines of credit, or mortgages with a variety of terms and collateral options. In most cases, these are credit lines for you to use at your discretion.

More specific healthcare loans are also available from several financial providers. They will also offer you rates and monthly pay-down schedules for you to choose. Two important aspects of these are that in some cases they will not finance certain procedures and they sometimes pay the doctor or hospital directly. We have partnered with the following healthcare financing firms for your benefit.

May I include leisure into my trip?
After having your destination doctor’s opinion about this, we can help you tailor a leisure part of your trip. This might include anything from stays at a rest retreat within reach of your doctor and hospital so you can comply with follow-up visits, to more traditional vacation getaways.  Bear in mind that a patient is more likely to have certain temporary limitations after a procedure rather than before, and therefore leisure activities should probably be planned for the days preceding medical appointments.

How can I contact and keep in touch with my doctor?
At all times while making up your mind, planning your trip, during your stay, and after your return home your doctor will be available by phone and email. Since medical travelers cannot visit and see their doctors before taking the trip, our facilitation services include not only an introductory conference call between you and your doctor, but also, as many other calls as needed for you to feel more comfortable and understand what to expect and for your doctor to better assess the case at hand. For all scanned medical records, diagnostics, and pictures your doctor might need, we use a private web portal in which you can upload files for us to deliver or for your doctor to access directly.

Will you select or advise on doctors and hospitals?
Travel For Care is here for you to have all necessary information and tools to make such an important and personal decision in the most educated and informed way. We show you what we consider are great options, help you understand them, and assist with anything you need to make the choice. Nevertheless, choosing healthcare procedures and providers is completely up to you. We do not provide medical or healthcare advice, do not encourage, advocate, underwrite, or select on your behalf any of the doctors, hospitals, clinics, or healthcare facilities in or outside our network.

What if I don’t find the procedure in which I am interested on your website?
We have established a network of providers with not only enough depth to offer several experience and price levels for each specialty, but also the breadth required to assist medical travelers with any and all needs. We mention and promote the specialties and procedures for which there is the most demand, but by all means, if you are interested in a procedure that we have omitted, do not hesitate to contact us as we promise to assist you immediately.

Why should I work with a medical travel solutions firm like Travel For Care?
As when planning a leisure or a business trip, you can probably work out everything by yourself. However, let us briefly mention all the heavy lifting we have already done for you and everything we will personally do to tailor such an important trip to your needs.

First, we are here to answer all your questions and concerns. We want to help you understand the benefits of medical travel, whether it is right for you, and what the process is like.

Second, we give you carefully selected and proven options. To this end, we have previously selected each and every doctor, hospital, clinic, and facility in the geography where we operate in order to create nothing but the best possible network covering a very wide spectrum of specialties and several price levels to fit your budget. This was done in months of interviewing doctors, hospital directors, visiting facilities, talking to past clients, checking records and statistics, and cross referencing and validating everything with the most reputed and knowledgeable healthcare professionals and consultants. Quality checks and agreements were also established with the travel agents, hotels, ground transportation and concierges, insurance companies, and financing providers we work with. It is also important to mention that we have negotiated prices with everyone in the network including our logistics providers which are often better than the prices given to the general public.

Third, we guide and take you through the planning process. We reach out to your doctors, give them your information, records, files, and images.  We also coordinate your procedures, travel, and logistics in a way that suits your needs.  Lastly, we will facilitate your advance payments, help you talk to your insurance company, assist you with complications and malpractice insurance, and contact you with finance providers.

Fourth, we are here for you during your trip. The case manager with which you have been in contact throughout the process will be your local advocate. You will not only meet this person, but also count on them to defend your interests with doctors, hospitals, and transportation providers. We will always act in your best interest and assist you with any special needs.

Last, our guidance and assistance does not end when you leave. Count on us to help you solve any pending issues, communicate with your doctor or any other parties, and schedule follow up sessions (phone or in-person).
As you might have figured out by now, Travel For Care has already cleared the path for you, and from the moment you contact us, we’ll make it easier and let you focus on what really matters, your health and well-being.

What is the cost of using Travel For Care?
Travel For Care does not charge patients for its services. We provide healthcare professionals and institutions with promotion and marketing services in exchange for a fraction of their incremental revenues. This means that patients enjoy our services for free, have access to the same rates they would get calling the providers directly, and even save in accommodations and logistics as we pass on the corporate rate savings we have agreed on. Believe us, there is no catch.

What deposits or advance payments are required from a patient?
Some doctors and facilities will require patients to pay booking deposits in advance with remaining amounts to be paid upon arrival. We'll let you know how to do this. If patients find useful or convenient to deposit all due fees in advance or to wire funds a few days before arriving in Monterrey, we'll also help arrange the details. Please note that booking deposits are not refundable, but they do count towards the total prodecure price.

Can I speak with past clients about their experience?
Talking to previous clients is a great way to understand our services and the medical travel experience. Once you move forward with Travel For Care, we will be more than happy to put you in contact with past clients. Please note that we value every client’s privacy and therefore there are guidelines from those who have expressly agreed to help us this way about the best times they are to be reached.

Why do you offer Mexico as your only medical tourism destination?
When strategically thinking about how broad to make our network of doctors, hospitals, and clinics, Travel For Care sees no reason to serve the North American medical traveler from anywhere but Mexico. Many countries around the world provide medical care at a fraction of the cost of that in the U.S., but if you select countries in which you can find hospitals and practitioners of the highest quality in the world who work within an experienced medical travel sector, and from those select the ones with modern transportation and communications infrastructure, and great leisure destinations, and finally only those countries with a location which can drastically reduce travel times, costs, jetlag, time zone changes, and cultural differences, you would choose Mexico without a doubt. Please check our information section on “The Mexico Advantage”.

How long should I expect to be away from home?
All procedures have different time lengths. For example, dental work might be done in two days, weight loss and plastic surgeries might require four to five days, while orthopedic surgeries might require a two week stay. Nevertheless, we have worked closely with every doctor and hospital in order to streamline the process of pre-operative exams, lab work, and post-operative consultations for you to spend away from home only the necessary amount of time that guarantees your safety with no delays. Travel For Care provides you with a preliminary timeframe as well as with expected costs for your selected procedure once you start your medical travel process. You will have a more accurate timeframe for your specific case once you have your initial phone consultation with your doctor or specialist.

What are your cancellation policies, or what would happen if I decide to cancel at any point before my procedure?
Everything but the Booking Deposit is refundable under the Travel For Care Guarantee. We want you to have peace of mind by allowing you to cancel your procedures at any point before your trip, after having met your doctor, while seeing the hospital, and even after having pre-operatory tests. Amounts reimbursed include anything paid (in excess of the booking deposit) towards medical services not used by the time you decide to do so. This does not include medical services that have already been performed, and please note that the cancellation/refund policy of travel, lodging, ground transportation, insurance, and other services will vary from provider to provider. Travel For Care will assist you with your cancellation process and refunds from medical providers in our network.

What about flights, lodging, and ground transportation arrangements?
For your convenience, Travel For Care has partnered with Alfaeventus, a local and independent Travel Agency.  With proven client service and years of experience, Alfaeventus will be your contact for all transportation, logistics, and lodging arrangements. It is in their best interest to serve you either directly or through Travel For Care. We have found the air tickets that Alfaeventus books to be at the same, if not at better prices than what can be booked online. In the case of hotels, they have been pre-selected to meet the highest standards, to be good options for recovering patients, to be close to your hospital or clinic, and to be located in nice areas so you can enjoy Monterrey as much as possible. Alfaeventus' agreements with hotels usually get you a 20-30% discount. Regarding ground transportation, they also give you the option of having an English-speaking concierge to cater to all your needs: to assist you at the airport, at the hotel check-in/out, arriving or departing the hospital, to/from a restaurant, mall, or movies, and even with dinner reservations. Lastly, Alfaeventus can also book absolutely any excursions, side trips, or getaways you might need.

It is important to highlight that even if we quote you several flight and hotel options and offer you a ground transportation concierge, all according to your schedule, you have the choice of selecting from these options or doing it yourself. You can also use your frequent flyer miles or points if you wish. Have in mind that if you ever needed changes to your flight or hotel itinerary, it is generally easier for the travel agency that booked them to do so. Travel For Care will assist you with all your travel and logistics needs but does not receive a commission from travel and logistics providers.
